Can NATO survive Ukraine?
The NATO Ukrainian project has been developing since at least 2013, but more likely since the 90s. Ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, Western leaders have dreamed of using Ukraine as a tool to control Russia.
The current war in Ukraine was supposed to start in 2017 but Trump’s election interfered with the plans. Today's conflict was provoked by NATO using Ukraine as a proxy, to give the West an excuse to destroy the Russian economy.
As we know now, the plan failed. Instead the sanctions reverberated onto the West and pushed the economies into recession or worst. Some have theorized the real purpose of the sanctions was to destroy the EU and make it more subservient to the USA and the American empire. That is actually too cute by half.
The theorists and bureaucrats making these plans think they are the best and brightest, elite individuals who attended the best schools. Unfortunately they are, at best Intellectuals Yet Idiots. They lack an understanding of the world that is more than superficial. They are consumed with pride and lack humility.
NATO fulfilled its stated purpose three decades ago. It shouldn't exist today. It truly is merely a tool of the American empire, but it isn't a successful one. Its best success is getting countries to beg to join. Rome had similar “success”.
At this time, NATO may be attempting to widen the conflict, now that Ukraine is being ground down. New provocations are occurring in Lithuania and Moldova and Syria.
When Ukraine finally submits, NATO will show the world it is a paper tiger. Countries may start to consider whether being linked to NATO is useful today, if it is more than just a tool for money and arms transfers.
What do European nations get out of the alliance anyway? They effectively turn over their sovereignty to America and allow America to dictate their foreign policy.
European nations have surrendered sovereignty to the EU as well, but does that make sense either?
It was recently revealed that Lithuania broke its treaty with Russia regarding rail travel to Kaliningrad because the EU instructed Lithuania to do so. Lithuania therefore intentionally violated its treaty to obey the EU. Lithuania is therefore has given up its sovereignty to the EU.
Lithuania, with an army of about 1,000 soldiers, is provoking an invasion. The obvious goal is to invoke NATO's self defense provisions. It is asking to be annexed again by Russia. Even if NATO tried to fight, Lithuania would be devastated. A small country like Lithuania should never act in this manner.
Clearly NATO and the EU have made some attractive promises to Lithuania's leaders. These promises may be similar to those given to Ukraine's leadership. And since, allegedly, the Ukrainian leadership has personally highly profited from fighting Russia, perhaps this is not a bad idea, for those willing to destroy their own country for personal profit.
Maybe NATO dies but the EU becomes sovereign in itself. That wouldn't be the worst outcome for the EU, except that Europe hasn't been willing to defend itself since the Cold War.
And if NATO dies, where does that leave the UK? It obviously still wants to play a big role in world affairs. Will it be more than an American appendage?
And will America survive the end of NATO? Without NATO, would the US still try to be the world's hegemon? Most likely, until it suffers even more failures and financial ruin.
It takes so long for an imperial power to admit its decline. America will likely follow the similar pattern and try to continue on for decades, declining more and more, looking pathetic like other former hegemons. The homefront can't last that long, so America may collapse internally, triggered by yet another foreign failure.
