As we look at the Ukraine War going nowhere but to what seems a hopeless cause, and the very real possibility of NATO open intervention with ground troops and airpower on the table, I thought it might be good to look back at another unnecessary war for empire.
There’s been something rolling around in my head a while and I think it may be somewhat ironic. If America disengaged from NATO and it fell apart, it seems like the fallout could be disastrous for the freedom and security many millions of people, even maybe extending to us. Conversely, it is my preferred outcome of this conflict. We cannot continue to subsidize the security of Europe. Even if the alternative is a disaster. In the wake of WW2, they need to start standing on their own. I don’t know if this is madness or a principled stand to take. Realpolitik, I guess. Did you see Robert Malones article about the Kissinger 1975 population control paper? War by other means. Life on this planet would be great if we didn’t have all of these Marxists and Oligarchs running around with their plans to fix us.
The Club of Rome decided to work towards reduced population almost 50 years ago.
As to the end of NATO, what would it actually mean for the world? It should have happened 30 years ago, but Clinton used the Balkans as an excuse to keep it alive. The great fear was the Europe would defend itself and have its own military.
Why would the end of NATO mean less freedom for anyone?
I think the argument could have been that NATO provides stability where without it, there would be chaos, which would lead to yet less freedom. That is, it could have been the case, if NATO were run by wise, capable, and prudent people. Alas, we don’t have that alternative history to learn from….
I know a second generation Lithuanian lady and her whole family is scared to death of Putin/Russia and they 100% support the war in Ukraine. If you ask her, she’d say she was pretty grateful for the stability and freedom that she thinks NATO provides. I can understand her perspective, even if I don’t agree that NATO should even exist anymore.
The EU could have created its own defensive military alliance without the US. It was working to do so after the Cold War. NATO ties the US to the region and is a tool for aggression and empire, not peace.
As to Lithuania, it isn't much of a real country and should fear Poland, who tried to conquer it after WW1, as much as Russia. Lithuania has engaged in pretty aggressive anti-Russian policies over the last few years. Small countless shouldn't be hostile to their much larger neighbors. It has no basis for arrogance.
